Argentine Gypsy Jazz Guitar String Set
Argentine strings are the most popular choice by Gypsy Jazz players around the world.
Savarez the manufacturer was commissioned by Selma to create a string to suit their Gypsy Jazz guitars. Django used them and they have remained the standard ever since .
OK… I have always found the labelling of these strings a little confusing; so I will try to make it easy for you...so here is a video to help!
They come in 2 Sizes. Usually everyone describes it by the size of the small E. Either .010 or .011. The .011 are marked MF. The .010 have no Letters.
They also have 2 ends. Most Selmer style guitar tail pieces can use either. A “Ball End” which you put the string through and the ball holds it on the tailpiece or a “Loop End” which is looped over the tail piece toggle. 1510 are “Loop End”. 1610 are “Ball End”.
There is no real difference in sound between the two types. Some players like the loop end as you only have to loosen the string and it comes off the toggle. It is a personal choice.
