ADONIS GOULIELMOS Oval 670. 
I am so excited to be collaborating with the  wonderful Greek luthier Adonis Goulielmos. Australia NEEDS to play his guitars! Adonis is a gigging player himself and his guitars offer some really interesting design features never before seen in Australia.

The Goulielmos Oval 670 is Selma copy with a Oval hole built with a SOLID BODY! The sides of the guitar use a twin wood method called the Ramirez technique used by Jose Ramirez in the classical guitars he made for Andres Segovia. The stiffness of this technique projects more response and volume to the soundboard.

Adonis is building this Oval 670 with a solid Canadian Spruce soundboard and solid American walnut back. On the sides using twin woods he is using solid American walnut on the outer layer and solid Cretan Cypress in the inside. This combination of tonal woods and technique will definitely offer a unique sound and tone…with added sweet smell of Cyprus!

The Oval 670 is also built with a sound portal for the players benefit.

ADONIS GOULIELMOS GUITARS

 Renowned Greek luthier Adonis Goulielmos has been training and making musical instruments since 2002. To this day he is an active guitarist with the Gypsy Jazz band “Swingshoes”.

In 2008 Adonis opened his own workshop in Athens. I love that on his website he calls it a laboratory; but that is how he works. He has specialised in restoring and building both Mediterranean guitars (Remptiki and parlour) and Gypsy Jazz guitars. Over the years Adonis has restored original Selma Macaferri and Favino guitars, examining their construction and finishings.

After years of experimenting in his “laboratory” Adonis is proudly making the guitars that he loves to play! His focus is on projection and tone incorporating unique design elements including solid wood construction, solid twin wood sides (using the Ramirez technique) and solid Spruce soundboards (like the original Selma’s).
